What is NeoGraft™?

NeoGraft™ is a revolutionary hair transplantation system that allows the surgeon to perform the most advanced and clinically-proven hair transplantation called FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). FUE generally relies on the skill of the surgeon to be precise. With the added use of the NeoGraft device, the surgeon can provide consistent and exact placement of hair follicles using technology that operates with precision automated control. This means your hair transplant procedure can be performed to a greater level of safety and efficacy with the utmost accuracy and precision. NeoGraft can provide you with a completely natural appearance with less pain and downtime.

What is an “FUE” hair transplant?

“F.U.E.” or “Follicular-Unit Extraction” is an advanced, minimally-invasive hair transplant method that allows for the harvesting of individual follicles from the donor area without a scalpel or stitches, and therefore leaves no linear scar.

What are the main benefits of FUE over linear harvesting?

It is well-accepted that FUE transplants can heal faster and are more comfortable than linear-harvest techniques. With FUE, once healing is complete, the patient has the option of wearing a very short haircut without the worry of a telltale linear scar. Without the need for stitches, downtime is shorter with fewer activity restrictions post-operatively.

What are some benefits of NeoGraft over manual FUE techniques?

The highly ergonomic mechanical NeoGraft device works as a natural extension of the surgeons’ hand, allowing for faster and more accurate harvesting of hair follicles. NeoGraft™ patients now reach their goal with less time in the procedure room or fewer FUE procedures altogether.

Who is a good candidate for FUE using NeoGraft?

Patients who would like the option of wearing a very short haircut in the back or sides of their scalp, or those who want the least amount of activity restriction (e.g. athletes) after their hair transplant procedure, may be good candidates for FUE with NeoGraft. FUE can also be used for ‘scar camouflage’ procedures for patients who have had prior linear harvests, as well as for body hair transplants.

Are the final transplanted ‘results’ any different with FUE than those achieved with linear harvesting?

Results are similar. Provided that the grafts are implanted with equal care, artistry and precision into the recipient area, the final transplanted results with FUE would be similar, if not identical, to those accomplished with a linear harvest. The difference is not in the area of transplanted hair, but rather how the donor area is harvested—either by a strip of scalp or by small individual graft extractions.

Is FUE/NeoGraft suitable for both men and women?

Yes. Because FUE/NeoGraft is a minimally-invasive procedure, it is a viable option for both men and women looking to restore their own living and growing hair with transplantation.

Do I have to get a total ‘buzz cut’ to have an FUE/NeoGraft procedure?

No, but it helps. If your donor hair is long enough, harvesting using the FUE/NeoGraft can be done by shaving small areas which can be covered by your other, existing hair. For maximum yield, however, a buzz cut is recommended in the donor area.

How do I know if I am a suitable candidate?

Candidates for hair restoration have sufficient donor hair on the back of the scalp to transplant into the frontal balding areas. The best candidates are men and women with only frontal or partial hair loss and with adequate donor hair. Call us at 724-264-3608 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Brian Heil. Dr. Heil will assess the amount of coverage needed to give you the appearance you desire.

Will I need further treatments?

Hair loss does not stop after transplantation. If your balding continues with age, you may need continued maintenance and further sessions. Progressive hair loss or the desire for greater density may require more transplants. An estimate of balding pattern and the number of procedures needed will be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Heil.

How soon will I see results?

The science behind grafting is quite simple. Hair follicles are taken from the hair in the back of the head that naturally continues to grow. These follicles that hold your transplanted hair are living tissues that grow cyclically. Once the healthy hair follicle has been implanted into the balding area, the grafted hair will stay in place for about two to three weeks before shedding – this is normal and an important part of the new growth process.

After shedding, the new growth will begin in 3-4 months, and your hair will continue to grow normally. More importantly, your results will look healthy and natural.
