Vitiligo – Irregular Pigmentation Pittsburgh
Vitiligo causes white patches to form on the skin due to loss of brown pigmentation in the tissues. Patients who are interested in addressing the symptoms of vitiligo should come in for a consultation.
The exact cause of vitiligo has not yet been determined. It may be an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune cells attack and destroy the melanocyte cells. Melanocytes create brown pigment, and when they are absent, so is the brown pigmentation in the region. It is a chronic condition and also may be hereditary to some degree.
If you would like to learn more about the potential causes and treatment options for vitiligo, schedule a consultation by contacting our office. Dr. Ana Busquets, a board-certified dermatologist, will be available to provide information about the condition and more.
