Facelift Recovery —Rhytidectomy Pittsburgh Post-Operative
For many people, signs of aging can hurt self-confidence. A facelift, or rhytidectomy, can restore one’s youthful appearance. However, one should not ignore the importance of the facelift recovery period. This aspect of the procedure relies heavily on the patient following careful instructions from board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian Heil.
The procedure requires incisions along the hairline around the temples. The incisions allow for excess skin to be removed and sagging to be pulled taut. Because of this, bruising and swelling should be expected.
Around one to two days into facelift recovery, most patients should be able to take a shower and wash their hair. However, when doing so, they must avoid extreme water temperatures so they do not damage the healing incisions in the area. It’s also important to take some time off from work and all strenuous activities during post-operative healing.
