3 Things to Expect on Your Breast Augmentation Odyssey
You’ve made the hardest decision of all – choosing to undergo breast augmentation surgery. Now you are able to have a feeling of relief and anticipation for what is to come. However, what is to come? At Premier Plastic Surgery & Dermatology, whether it is our hair restoration surgery in Pittsburgh, PA or our breast augmentation surgery, we want to make sure you are fully prepped and know what to expect.
- Making decisions
During your consultation, come prepared with an idea for what you want your final result to be. Essentially, know your goals! Having a general size in mind will queue your doctor in on helping to guide you to your final choice. Measurements of your anatomy will be made to see which implants will fit you. You can also “try on” different sized implants via a special bra. You will have to make some solid decisions, but our doctor’s goal is to make you feel comfortable and secure in those decisions. We will explain the process to you and answer any questions you may have. - Going over logistics for your surgery
A pre-op appointment will walk you through preparation for the big day. You will go over what will happen the day of, as well as fill your prescriptions, so you will have them ready. Before, photos will also be taken, and you can ask the staff or your doctor for any suggestions to prepare. - The surgery
It is important to arrive one hour before your outpatient procedure and make sure you have a friend or family member with you to drive you home and stay the night with you. The anesthetist will ask you some general health questions and about any previous experiences. Next thing you will know is that you are on the way home with your new breasts! - Aftercare
The day after your surgery, you will see your doctor again to assess how you feel and check on the bandages.One week after, you will again have a checkup to make sure everything is going smoothly. You will learn how to care for the small scar and get a better sense of your results.
Three months after, you will be able to take your after-picture and see the difference between the new you and the old you!
