Schedule a Consultation with Dr. ZhuDr. Zhu is a Pittsburgh-native and attended the North Allegheny School District for most of his primary and secondary education. He graduated from Duke University and received his Bachelors in Chemistry with a focus in Biochemistry. He then matriculated into the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine under scholarship with the Physician Scientist Training Program (PSTP). During this time, he was not only elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) national medical honors society, but also was able to secure a prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) medical research grant for his contributions to scientific advancement. To date, Dr. Zhu has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, and many more abstracts, presentations, and book chapters.
He matched into the six-year Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency Program with the Department of Plastic Surgery at UPMC, which has consistently ranked as the #1 Plastic Surgery training program in the US (Doximity Rankings). For his selfless dedication to others, Dr. Zhu was elected Administrative Chief Resident and received the Senior Resident Teaching Award, among numerous other accolades.
While many graduates choose to start practicing right out of residency, Dr. Zhu wanted to ensure his patients received care from a Plastic Surgeon who has reached the pinnacle of training and surgical experience. He chose to pursue a dedicated year with The Aesthetic Fellowship of Los Angeles in the heart of Beverly Hills. There, he learned from venerable giants and international leaders in the field of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Complex techniques, such as deep-plane face/neck lifts, drainless tummy tucks, and difficult primary/revision rhinoplasties are just a few of the many procedures Dr. Zhu is excited to bring back and offer at Premier Plastic Surgery, among the full spectrum of face, nose, breast, and body procedures.
Outside the operating room, Dr. Zhu is a husband, a father, and someone who finds joy in the small things in life - trying new foods, exploring new places, root beer (his guilty pleasure), or simply spending time with family. He believes that truly understanding his patients starts with being open about who he is as well. Plastic Surgery is his profession, but connection is what drives him. Dr. Zhu’s goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and cared for - not just as a patient, but as a person.
