Patients are comfortably put under deep sedation or administered light anesthesia for the surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the <\/span>rhinoplasty<\/span><\/a> procedure, a splint is placed on the outside of the nose to maintain the new position and alignment, as well as to limit swelling and bruising. Some patients will have internal packing within the nose. During the healing process, the patient needs to rest with his head raised higher than his chest to reduce any swelling and bleeding. The patient may notice some congestion due to swelling or the splints that were placed inside the nose during surgery. After approximately one week, internal dressings are removed. Throughout the healing process, the patient may notice some temporary swelling and bruising with discoloration around the eyelids lasting for a few more weeks. Patients will be released to participate in light activity first, and then to heavier, full contact activity after about six weeks from the date of the <\/span>rhinoplasty<\/span><\/a> procedure. In time, the nose will heal to its final result. Results are very slight changes with alterations measured in mm. However, these slight changes make a large difference in overall appearance.
