How long will I be taking pain medications after surgery?<\/strong>
\nIn many cases, patients only take prescription pain medications for two to four days after the procedure. At that point, an over-the-counter option is usually strong enough to deal with any lingering discomfort.<\/p>\n

How long until I can drive?<\/strong>
\nMost patients will begin driving after they stop taking prescription pain medications or approximately four days after surgery.<\/p>\n

Why do I need to wear a special surgical bra during recovery?<\/strong>
\nThese specially designed bras are made to be comfortable and to support the breasts without any wiring. Most patients wear them for a month or more following their breast reduction or lift, including overnight when sleeping.<\/p>\n

What will my chest look like after surgery?<\/strong>
\nIn the first few days following the procedure you will probably notice a lot of swelling. Stitches may be black-colored, and oozing along incisions is to be expected. Place fresh gauze or cotton pads under the band of your bra, over your nipples, and in other places where you notice any excessive moisture.<\/p>\n

How can I cut down on scarring?<\/strong>
\nYour surgeon will recommend a reparative oil to massage onto your scars once they have begun the healing process.<\/p>\n

How can I modify my diet for a healthier recovery?<\/strong>
\nDo not eat processed foods or beverages during your recovery period. Instead, eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies and drink plenty of water. Your pain medication may make you constipated, so eat fibrous foods and have a stool softener on hand in case you need it.<\/p>\n
