When you visit our office, you can be confident that you will be treated by highly experienced medical professionals at our dermatology practice in Wexford and Pittsburgh. We have extensive experience and knowledge in a diversity of skin conditions, which commonly include:
Acne: Acne treatment includes topical and oral medications, extractions, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, photodynamic therapy and a wide selection of laser therapy to provide fully encompassing solutions for the management of your blemishes and acne scars.
Childhood Skin Conditions: We treat a variety of skin conditions commonly affecting children such as eczema, warts, molluscum contagiosum, diaper rash, birthmarks, skin infections, and acne. We strive to help our young patients feel as comfortable as possible when treating their skin problems.
Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis): This itchy, dry, red skin condition commonly affects infants and children, but can affect adults as well. While not contagious, eczema can cause considerable physical and emotional discomfort. Treatment may include prescription of topical or oral anti-inflammatory and antihistamine medications to reduce inflammation and the progression of the condition.
Hair & Nail Problems: We treat a wide range of conditions that affect the hair and nails including seborrheic dermatitis (a severe form of dandruff), alopecia, male pattern hair loss, in-grown toenails, and toenail fungus.
Moles and Other Benign Lumps & Bumps: We can determine whether a mole, cyst, or other skin growth is benign or malignant, and treat it appropriately.
Psoriasis: Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease consisting of dry, red itchy patches of skin that may or may not itch. It usually occurs on the scalp, arms and legs. Depending on the type of psoriasis, patients may have pustules or raised, puss-filled bumps. Treatment may include prescribed oral and/or topical medications to cease the increased production of skin cells and reduce inflammation that would otherwise trigger the condition.
Rashes: Our staff is experienced in diagnosis and treatment of a diverse variety of skin rashes including contact dermatitis and sunburn.
Rosacea: This flushed redness of the cheeks and nose is caused by small blood vessels (telangiectasias) that become dilated. Treatment may include topical or oral medications, as well as light therapies called Broad Band Light or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial.
Skin Cancers: Early skin cancer diagnosis greatly increases the success of treatment. We also provide our patients with information about skin cancer prevention. For skin cancer, our specialists provide immunotherapy cream, topical chemotherapy, photodynamic therapy, cryosurgery, and highly targeted excision surgery to ensure that you can benefit from the least invasive method possible for healthier skin. We regularly conduct skin cancer screenings for optimal skin health.
Skin Infections: We treat bacterial infections of the skin, such as impetigo, and fungal infections, or “ringworm”, of the scalp and body. We also treat parasitic infections and scabies , a mite infestation that can cause an extremely itchy rash and is very contagious.
Skin Tags: These tiny growths are usually harmless and can be removed if desired through freezing (cryotherapy), electrical cauterization, or surgical removal.
Warts: This common viral infection of the skin is not dangerous, but can be unsightly and uncomfortable. We use various methods to remove them, which can depend on the patient's age. In the treatment of warts, Dr. Busquets may prescribe over-the-counter products, cryotherapy, electrosurgery, immune therapy delivered via a topical medication or injection into the wart, or laser treatment to remove your wart, depending on the type and location of the lesion.
